I've found a new sketch challenge site for cards. Tuesday Morning sketches has the above sketch this week.
I've made a card for a neighbours 9 year old daughter. I used silver stickers, plus a carefully cut circle.

Daring Cardmakers and Paper Play sketches

Daring cardmakers have a challenge to use something that you would find in a coffee shop.

After searching high and low, I found a garland with a CUPCAKE, a Lollipop and Music.
All 3 of these can be found in coffee shops at various times.
My local coffee shop gives out lollipops to the kids to enjoy while Mum is having her coffee.

and at Paper play sketches
I've made a get well card for a young lady.
There is washi tape plus matching hearts on here.
The plain washi tape and the background chippy have glittery finishes.

CKC blog hop.

"Welcome to my part of the CKCB Members' Blog Hop.
Challenge #1: Shabby Chic Techniques
Challenge #2: C'est Magnifique, N'est Pas?
Challenge #3: Ephemera Encapsulated
Here's the order for the Blog Hop
Natalie (Go here next)
You should have come here from ELAINE

Challenge #1 was to scrap a layout using shabby chic techniques.. and here's my project ...

I've used distressing, vintage laces, stitching and tearing on this layout as well as a doiley.

All of these are features of shabby chic.

The photo of the 2 dolls went with the colouring and the criteria well.

The full blog hop list will be published on the link-to-the-CKCB so if you get lost along the way, head over there to
find your way back onto the hop.

Butterfly Challenge #53

At Butterfly challenge  T is for Texture and Teal (plus butterflies.)

I've managed to organise all 3 on one card.
The colour chart on the site gave me the idea of using paint chips.
I layered that with a floral handmade paper which is grainy.
On top of that. is a smaller paper featuring butterflies (shiny silver) and my thickers are foam.
I've finished it off with 2 enamel dots (top right)
In real life the textures are more evident.

Li'l red wagon and cute card Thursday.

At Li'l red wagon we are asked for script writing on a card.
At Cute card Thursday we are asked for a quote instead of a sentiment.
In the latter case I've used the words from a Beatles song "Love is old love is new love is all love is you".
The papers and quote are all from the Lucy & Roy collection (Kaisercraft) which I had in my April Counterfeit Kit. I've also rounded the corners on this card for extra appeal.

Shopping our stash

This week's challenge at Shopping our stash is to use chipboard.

I had a chipboard sailboat so have used it on this card.
I managed to find a tiny piece of patterned paper featuring waves plus a scallop shell brad.
Very nautical and summery I think.

This could be a birthday, thank you,bon voyage or retirement card

Use your stuff and Retro sketches

The challenge at Use your stuff is to use punches.
My favourite punch is this flower punch which is so versatile.
It can be layered to make thicker flowers, folded for more complicated flowers etc.
Today I chose to cluster the flowers as a bunch.
I've made the card for a family friend's birthday.

The sketch challenge at Retro sketches is this
My card follows the design quite accurately except my sentiment is higher.

In the Pink challenge & Crafty Cardmakers (Stash busting!)

Over at Challenge #92 is pearls.
I've used 2 shiny crimson papers from Lucy & Roy collection, plus a tag I made with a stamped image.
The only pearls I had were pale green, but as the majority of the card is pink, I think I might pass muster!
Next at there is a 1,2,3 challenge.
It is 1 image (Butterflies) ,2 patterned papers and 3 embellishments.(flair, button, heart brad.)
This ends the Tim Holtz butterfly Kraft.
I fussy cut 3 butterflies and overlapped them towards the edges.
And I made top 3 at Feeling Sketchy.
Top Picks Badge!

Stash busting (Making cards)

All of these sites have ANYTHING GOES as their challenge.

My card features a small piece of patterned paper from my Counterfeit Kit, plus a stamped image of a Victorian lady with sewing patterns. I tied twine around the bottom of this.
My sentiment was from a Basic Grey set of mixed brads.

My next is for Stick it down where they have his sketch
I've used remnants of my Lucy & Roy 6x6 pad plus some kraft on this
At they have the challenge, "You stamped with what?"
This set me searching through drawers etc and I came up with an eyeshadow brush.
I dabbed it on small Versa ink pads (3 colours) then used that as part of this card.
The dabbed part is behind the sun flag.
I'm still using up the black & white cards that were donated to me.

Tuesday taggers

At Tuesday Taggers the theme is spring and they had a mood board to inspire us.
My eye was drawn to the yellows and greens and the flowers.
With this in mind I have created this card.

I misted with yellow through a mask, then placed a rose sticker from October afternoon on some scrap Kraft card.
Next I stitched a border around the square and added my sentiment down either side.

Scrap our stash

My last full piece of scrapping paper from my counterfeit kit and an opportunity to scrap some photos I've hoarded. I've also used another Futuristic orange paper.

This challenge features clouds full of ideas and people.
My photos are from Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
(Read here for more info )

The Buddhist monks follow religious ideas and wear orange robes.
I hope that explains my connection to the photo.

I've used a big Heidi Swapp wood veneer. "Journey" word.
There are several tiny gold features plus an acetate arrow and 2 vellum clouds at the top.
 Hope you like it!

Ruby's Rainbow.and Simon Says stamp has a paper piecing challenge.
I've made a get well card for a man.
It uses an idea I saw on Pinterest for a tissue in the pocket.
All items on here are from my Counterfeit kit, except the tissue.
Over at Simon Says stamp the challenge is April Showers bring May Flowers.
Here in Australia, April showers herald the start of Winter weather and the cold few months of the year. (I've put slacks on for the first day in months today).
Anyway I concentrated on flowers on my card.

Mojo Monday #443

Mojo Monday challenge #443 is the above design.
Here is my entry.

Using another butterfly card I used Kaisercraft mist in gold and heavily misted over the front.
It came out an olive green colour, but showed up the embossing which was the aim of the exercise.(see picture 1)

I added a square of hessian with the printed side up, there is some red and navy on the hessian.
The paper flower is Basic Grey Fact & Fiction featuring small book print.
Next I fussy cut a butterfly and added it to the flower.
Should I ink the edges of the flower?
I'm not sure of a sentiment yet, but I'm thinking maybe a get well card with a brown toned wording.
For some reason I'm thinking Anzac Day too.
What do you think? All ideas welcome.

Challenge #2 Use a DT members layout from Cest Magnifique.

Challenge #2 is to use a Cest Magnifique DT member's idea and make it your own.

The above layout has inspired me.
It is by Teresa and here's what she says
"This page was another quick one where I cut a piece of the flower printed paper and adhered it to the left side and then glued the photo onto a bunch of layered pieces of paper and the doilies that you get in the set.  The string I pulled apart to make it more lacy looking and the flowers and die cuts went perfect on both sides to frame the photo.  The little flowers I punched out from the paper and added a little bit of the white gel in the centers.  I still need 2 more photos but it's a gift that Ii need to frame so I am going to find something neat to finish it for them later."

I started with an old family postcard .
There was writing on the back, so I photocopied that and used it underneath.(where the 2 white squares are on the original.)
My postcard was matted on 2 papers as close as I could achieve to the original.

I machine stitched some crochet lace plus some grainy braid in a neutral colour.
My flowers are all different but blend in.
The cream layered lace one I made myself.
The twine is looped around the central button of the flower, instead of a loose bow as in the original.
Where the original has tiny white flowers, I've used wood veneer and punched butterflies.

and here is a close up of the postcard. It made us laugh!

Stick it down April sketch

This is the April sketch at Stick it Down.

All the items on here are from my Counterfeit Kit.
I'm pleased to have used another sheet from the 6x6 pad "Lucy & Roy".
The sticker strips along the edges of the triangle tone in, even though they are different to each other.
I used black lettering to stand out against the yellow and gold.
Some of the extra full stops I put up near the top bird.(good to use them).

I had a frangipani tree at my old house that I grew from a tiny branch.
It became quite a lovely tree. This photo was taken just before I moved.

Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog & Retro sketches.

I try to recycle wherever possible do you?
This card is made from the insert in a pair of stockings, you know the cardboard they put inside a leg to package it.
My tag is made from a smaller packaging card which was cream in colour.
I think it was a packet of embellishments.
I often use this kind of packaging for layering on layouts too.

Anyway, at Really reasonable ribbon this week they want flowers.
I've chosen some cream organza ribbon to loop between the layers on my flower as well as on my tag, so the flower ended up being 4 layers.
The paper is Graphic 45 "Old curiosity shop" and the verso side features butterflies.
As a finishing touch there is a brown butterfly mounted on pop dots.
Hope you like it!

Over at Retro Sketches here is this week's sketch.
I've used a few more items from my counterfeit kit on this one.

Shopping our stash and using mists

At shopping our stash they ask for " a hidden or tricky element on your project OR  you can use a faux tecqnique."

This reminded me about the Tim Holtz butterfly craft sheets in my Counterfeit Kit.
I sprayed 3 different colours (and my nightdress which quickly went into a bucket of suds).

I decided to use these for cards.

Here is the results.

The misting technique is subtle or nearly hidden.
I'm glad I found the butterfly washi to match too.

My second card is for a new blog I discovered Pink and Main
This card has subtle touches of lilac and purple on the sentiment.
I'm hoping that the Kraft background is acceptable.

3 card challenges

I was recently given some black & white patterned cards.
They lend themselves to further decoration.
(Scroll back & you will notice others)
My first card is for Cardz4guyz where the theme is black and white.
I made a tag saying pop (Grandfather) then placed it on a black newsprint border with 3 strips of washi tape.
My next one is for Unstampabelles where they want flora and fauna with a twist of texture.

I've layered some of the smaller items in my counterfeit kit including a small doiley,a fussy cut flower and a 3d sticker butterfly. The butterfly has clear glitter on its wings.
where this is the sketch
Here's my entry, again using my counterfeit kit.
I rather like yellow black & white together.

Rochelle Spears Challenges

These are the 3 sketches we are asked to choose from at Rochelle Spears challenge.
I've chosen the first one for a single photo.

And I'm combining it with a This or That challenge as well

I've used a journal card that somebody sent me, so I'm not sure what brand it is.
I'm guessing 7 Gypsies. It says "Confidential". My daughter can do the journaling.
By the way the gold cardboard with the punched flowers is from my Easter egg box.

I kept my layout neutral for the layering as I wanted the photo to stand out.
At the last minute, I added a red and green flower for some colour.
That used up quite a few items from my Counterfeit kit.

My daughter recently went on a road trip with a friend to Melbourne.
One of the places they visited was Luna Park.
This is the selfie she sent me.
